This is our report from the CloudCamp in Munich which took place on the 20. October 2009 hosted by Sun.
The event started with some Lighting Talks covering the different visions of Cloud Computing explained by the commercial Cloud Infra-structure providers Sun Microsystems, SymetriQ, A-Server, Day.com and Juniper Networks which also sponsored this event.
After that an (un-) Panel was formed to find topics for the upcoming mini-workshops according to the interests and questions from the audience. 4 workshops, each in one corner of the comfortable conference location, then started heated discussions about High-Availability and Security in the Cloud, Private-, Public- and Hybrid-Cloud Computing, Service- and Data-Migration, avoiding Vendor Locks and Open-Source Cloud Computing alternatives. Later the results of the discussions were presented to the audience which turns out to be a great way of knowledge-transfer.
One of the last point on the (un-) Conference program was the "Open-Source Cloud Computing Slam" where each Cloud Computing Open-Source Project had a 2 minute pitch to present their work and what’s cool about it. In short, openQRM won the Open-Source Cloud Computing Slam and we are happy about the donation from the sponsors of the CloudCamp Munich. It will be used by the openQRM Team to enhance the useability of the openQRM User Interface.
Social networking started and everybody enjoyed the follow-up discussions. A really great happening with an awesome audience which took a great part of making this event a success. Especially those bar-camp style (un-) Conferences are living from the interaction of the participants. Many thanks to the organization and sponsors of the CloudCamp Munich.
